Paramount Pictures, along with Legendary Pictures, has revealed the official trailer for the live-action movie based on Capcom’s fighting video game series “Street Fighter.” According to reports, the film will hit the theaters this summer.

The screenplay, written by T.J. Fixman, was co-written by director Kitao Sakurai. In the film, the events take place in 1993, when estranged fighters Ryu and Ken Masters are drawn into the world of fighting after Chun-Li invites them to participate in the World Warrior Tournament. The film features a conspiracy that puts the rival fighters on different paths and forces them to confront their pasts.

Andrew Koji will play the protagonist, Ryu, while Noah Centineo will portray Ken Masters. Callina Liang will feature as Chun-Li, the mastermind behind all of this, who convinces her opponents to join the tournament. Roman Reigns will be playing as Akuma, and David Dastmalchian will be portraying the legendary villain, M. Bison.

Other wrestlers and combat fighters featured in the cast include: Cody Rhodes (Guile), Alexander Volkanovski (Joe), Andrew Schulz (Dan Hibiki), Eric André (Don Sauvage), Vidyut Jammwal (Dhalsim), Orville Peck (Vega), Olivier Richters (Zangief), Hirooki Goto (E. Honda), Rayna Vallandingham (Juli), Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson (Balrog), and Jason Momoa (Blanka).

The idea for the plot has been developed by Dalan Musson and Gary Dauberman. Mary Parent and Cale Boyter will serve as producers alongside Momoa and Takayuki Nakayama, while Stefan Makhoul will produce under his company, “Spikeball Films.”

Executive producers include JJ Hook, Jay Ashenfelter, and Capcom’s Kenzo and Haruhiro Tsujimoto. Legends Pictures will produce the “Street Fighter” film in association with Capcom, the original Japanese developer of Street Fighter, and Paramount Pictures will distribute it.
