SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — Two temples of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints were dedicated Sunday, one in California and the other in Oregon.
The Yorba Linda California Temple was dedicated by President D. Todd Christofferson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. The Willamette Valley Oregon Temple was dedicated by President Dieter F. Uchtdorf, acting president of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.
“This temple and all latter-day temples constitute our visible, tangible testimony of the living reality of the Redeemer since without His Atonement and Resurrection, the temple would serve no purpose,” President Christofferson said. “I give you my sure witness that Jesus of Nazareth is the Son of God and Savior of the world, the resurrected Lord, that He lives, and that this is His Church, His house, and His work.”

President Russell M. Nelson announced the Yorba Linda California Temple during the church’s April 2021 general conference. According to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the temple will serve about 21,000 Latter-day Saints in the area and is a single-story structure of approximately 30,000 square feet. The temple is located at 17130 Bastanchury Road in Yorba Linda.
The Willamette Valley Oregon Temple became the third temple in Oregon. Workers broke ground on the temple in October 2022. The temple is located in the Willamette Valley near the University of Oregon and Oregon State University.
“Everyone who came here for the open house saw it is focusing on families; it’s uniting families,” President Uchtdorf said. “It is serving others, and this is what we need today. We need to be united. We need to focus on each other [and] how we can help each other.”
