A Florida man is facing federal charges after prosecutors say he sent multiple threats to the President through the White House website.
Ryan Brown, 27, of Crescent City, was indicted on two counts of threatening to kill the President of the United States, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida. If convicted on both counts, he could face up to 10 years in federal prison.
Federal prosecutors say the alleged threats were sent weeks apart. According to the indictment, Brown first contacted “whitehouse.gov” on April 16, sending a message directed to the President in which he allegedly threatened to blow up the White House within a week.

More than a month later, on May 25, investigators say Brown sent another message through the same website. In that message, prosecutors allege he stated, in part, that he would kill the President:
The charges were announced Tuesday, and the case was investigated by the United States Secret Service, which handles threats against the President and other high-level officials.
Authorities have not released additional details about Brown’s arrest or when he is expected to appear in court. The case remains ongoing.
