Nunavut MLA Brian Koonoo has resigned from cabinet, the premier announced on Monday.
Koonoo was minister of culture and heritage, environment, languages, and energy. He was named to Premier John Main’s cabinet last fall, after being elected MLA for Tununiq.
Main said in a brief statement on Monday evening Koonoo was leaving cabinet, effective immediately, for “personal reasons.”
Human Resources Minister Annie Tattuinee, the MLA for Rankin Inlet South, will be acting minister of culture and heritage, Main said.
Netsilik MLA Cecile Nelvana Lyall will act as environment minister. She’s already the minister responsible for the Nunavut Housing Corporation.
