Logan Paul‘s success in WWE has come as a surprise to many, including company Chief Content Officer Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque.
After finding great success as a YouTube star and celebrity boxer, Logan Paul made the decision to try his hand at professional wrestling. Paul officially signed with WWE in 2022 and in April of 2023 confirmed that he’d renewed his contract for a new multi-year deal.
Speaking in a new interview with Graham Bensinger as part of an in-depth video on his career, the current United States Champion admitted that he knew Levesque had once laughed off the idea of him joining WWE.
“Yeah, [I heard Triple H laughed when he heard I was interested in WWE], he told me to my face. I’m sure he thought ‘there’s no way this internet kid can hang with the toughness and complex nature of this sport.’”
However, the YouTube star has more than proven himself successful, earning praise from both critics and fellow stars like Johnny Gargano.
In the video, Levesque himself admits he was wrong to scoff at the star’s pro wrestling aspirations, saying:
“Once he got into it, and I saw not only what he’s able to do, but his dedication to doing it, you know that’s a game-changer for me. He earned my respect right out the shoot.”
When Did Logan Paul Become WWE United States Champion?
Logan Paul became WWE United States Champion at Crown Jewel on November 4th, defeating Rey Mysterio for the title. After becoming a champion for the first time in WWE, Paul not only posed nude while wearing his championship belt, he also revealed that WWE instructed him not to have sex wearing the title.
