A SWAT sniper eventually fired the round that ended the shooter’s life. Thankfully, no deputies or neighbors were injured during the incident.
The sheriff’s office said DiFusco Jr. had a pending ex parte order out of Volusia County due to a “series of extreme mental health episodes,” including delusions, hallucinations, and manic episodes.
Inside his condo, deputies recovered two Thompson submachine guns, a .45 caliber handgun and a 12-gauge shotgun.
“There was no negotiating with this guy,” Sheriff Mike Chitwood said. “My objective was to make sure every single deputy went home for Thanksgiving dinner.”
The shooting remains under investigation by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
