Lost dog missing for a month found swimming in the sea
LONDON (CNN) – A dog who went missing for more than a month was rescued at sea.
Sam Collins, the cofounder of the non-profit KS Rescue Angels, shared 5-year-old Amber’s incredible journey.
He said Amber was rescued from the streets of Qatar in late April and sent to a foster family in London, but she ran away from their yard after just one day.
Social media delivered tips to the rescue group on Amber’s whereabouts.
Weeks later, it was determined she had traveled 30 miles to a coastal town and then swam one mile to an island.
She was spotted by a passing boat as she was swimming back. Amber then swam to it and hooked her paws on the boat’s ladder.
She was helped onto the vessel and taken to a vet.
Amber had lost weight but otherwise was found to be in good health.
Now, she’s back with her foster family, who are keeping her on a very short leash.
She’ll stay with them for at least a couple more weeks before she hopefully lands in a forever home.
All told, it was estimated Amber covered around 100 miles in her journey.
