Mouse Mode isn’t just for games
If you’re getting frustrated dealing with loads of downloads after transferring your Switch games to your new Switch 2, this trick might help.
I also had a home screen full of downloads I needed to pause or cancel to avoid using up all of the storage space on my Switch 2 when I remember that Mouse Mode isn’t just for games. That’s right, you can use it to more easily navigate through the Switch 2’s menus and I found using it to manage my downloads was a lot easier than doing so on a controller.
Likewise, you can always plug in one of the best gaming mice with a lot of Switch 2 games if a sideways Joy-Con 2 is a bit too small for your hands.
Looks can be deceiving
Don’t get me wrong, the Hori Piranha Plant Camera is one of the coolest new accessories for the Switch 2. However, despite its unique look, the fact that you can use it in handheld mode and that you can close the plant to cover the camera, it has a major flaw: its only 480p.
For $60, you’re much better off getting the official Nintendo Switch 2 Camera instead. Or better yet, it’s worth trying a few of the best webcams your might already have first as many work with the Switch 2 right out of the box.
No controller does remappable buttons better
Just like the original, the Nintendo Switch 2 includes a Joy-Con Grip in the box so that you can play in TV mode while using your new Joy-Con 2 controllers. However, if like me, you prefer having remappable buttons on the back, then the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller is a must-have accessory.
In addition to incredibly smooth thumbsticks and a C Button for GameChat, there are also two programmable GL/GR buttons around back.
What sets Nintendo’s implementation of remappable back buttons apart though, is that you don’t have to worry about switching profiles. Instead, you can remap these buttons on a per-game basis and your Switch 2 will automatically change which buttons they’re mapped to whenever you switch games.
Don’t forget to pick up a case
Between a screen protector, extra controllers and maybe even a camera, it’s easy to forget about the most important accessory for your new Nintendo Switch 2: a carrying case. I picked up the PowerA Slim Case for my Switch 2 from Walmart and it’s exactly what I was looking for. The case is slim enough that it won’t take up that much space in your bag and its reinforced outer shell helps keep your console safe. There are also slots on the inside for storing game cards and at $20, you aren’t overpaying for extra features you might not even use.
In case you missed it
There’s a cheaper option for your Switch 2 storage needs.
Rather than buying the one Nintendo wants you to get, we doubled our Switch 2 storage for half the price. Walmart is selling a 256GB microSD Express Card from onn for $35. That’s a bargain if you have a ton of Switch games to install on your console.
The Switch 2 is officially Nintendo’s fastest-selling console
We mentioned earlier that the Switch 2 is selling a boatload of units, and that’s true. In fact, it’s the fastest-selling console Nintendo has ever offered.
Considering the company’s long history of success with consoles, that’s no small feat.
I was so close!
I had a Switch 2 in my cart through Best Buy. It said it would hold if for 10 minutes while I gathered up my payment information. About three minutes later, I tried to check out and it said the console was no longer in stock.
I double I’m the only person this happened to. If you thought you had secured your Switch 2 and it didn’t work out, know you’re not alone.
How to get better sound from your Switch 2
The Nintendo Switch 2 is many things, but an audio powerhouse it’s not, especially when it’s resting on your lap or a pillow, muffling the speakers. Fortunately, Tammy, our audio editor, found a way to improve the Switch 2’s audio for less than $100. TL;DR – it involves one of the best Bluetooth speakers.
Can I interest you in some lovely accessories?
While the console itself is hard to come by, it seems that all of the Switch 2 accessories are readily available at Best Buy and other retailers. You can get the Switch 2 Pro controller, Joy Con 2 Wheel, quad charging station, camera, travel case, and more.
But wait…Mario Kart Bundle available at Best Buy
I’ve been seeing the $499 bundle for Mario Kart coming in and out of stock, though it looks like it’s only available if you pick it up locally, so availability may depend on your location.
Best Buy now out of stock
And just like that, Best Buy doesn’t seem to have any more in stock at the moment. But, the company has said that more stock might be coming today, so we’ll keep monitoring things for you.
GAME now out of stock (UK)
This one lasted a while, but GAME is now out of Nintendo Switch 2 Mario Kart World bundle stock (or, at least, I’m hit by a “This page could not be found”), and there’s no sign of the device-only Switch 2 right now either.
That’s two restocks over in the U.K. we’ve seen, but none (yet) in the U.S. There’s still Best Buy’s restock taking place today (June 11), so sit tight for further updates and anything else we spot!
Alert: GAME has Switch 2 Mario Kart World bundles (UK)
See what I mean about more restocks coming? GAME now has the Nintendo Switch 2 Mario Kart World available to pick up, and considering you can knock off quite a few pennies by grabbing the big Switch launch title in this bundle, this in the one to get if you’re looking throw around some blue shells (and way more, of course).
Swipe it while you can!
ShopTo now out of stock (UK)
It was a blink-and-you-miss-it restock, but ShopTo is now out of Switch 2 stock. If you managed to snag a device, good on you! If not, don’t fret, as this just means that restocks are coming to retailers — it’s just a matter of timing!
ShopTo has Switch 2 in stock, but be fast (UK)
Nintendo Switch 2 stock has arrived at ShopTo, and according to the listing page, there’s low availability, so act fast if you’re in the U.K.!
It’s been a while since we’ve seen any restocks at online retailers, so if you’ve been looking to grab Nintendo’s latest console, now’s the time to pop it in your basket.
Switch 2 is a major sales success (duh!)
#NintendoSwitch2 has sold over 3.5 million units worldwide in its first four days, becoming the fastest-selling Nintendo hardware ever globally. pic.twitter.com/JNrl3Z92pvJune 11, 2025
In news that comes as little surprise to basically anybody, Nintendo has confirmed that the Switch 2 is a hit already.
The hybrid has sold a whooping 3.5m units in its first four days on the market, making it the fastest selling Nintendo hardware ever, quite some achievement as I can still recall the Nintendo Wii launch being a juggernaut, not to mention the original Switch.
It’s no wonder that Switch 2 continues to be out of stock everywhere with this much demand. Let’s just hope Nintendo has a solid plan in place to produce more consoles fast so we don’t end up with another PS5 restock nightmare on our hands.
When will Best Buy restock Switch 2 today?
So, now that we know Best Buy will be holding a Switch 2 restock today (June 11), the next question is when? And unfortunately, the retailer is being pretty tight-lipped.
The retailer’s last major online Switch 2 drop was at midnight ET, when pre-orders first began in late April, but seeing as June 11 has arrived already, we can comfortably rule that time slot out. My gut feeling, and remember this is just a personal prediction, is that it’ll be a mid-morning drop as that is often the slot that retailers prefer.
However, I’ve also seen some guesses on social media around 9-12 pm ET, so it could be held back until later in the evening. Either way, if you want to secure a Switch 2 at Best Buy today, you’re going to want to be paying close attention to the retailer.
BREAKING: Switch 2 restock at Best Buy confirmed for today
Thanks to a very helpful reader, I’ve just received a tip-off that Best Buy will be holding a Switch 2 restock today (June 11).
This restock will be the first time Best Buy takes online orders of the in-demand console since prior to launch day. Last week, the retailer did have extra Switch 2 stock, but it was only available in-store. This time, the Switch 2 will be available online at Best Buy.
It’s very good news for anybody looking to secure a console, but less helpful is the fact that we don’t currently have a start time for this restock. If that changes, or I see signs the restock is about to begin, then I’ll alert you in this live blog. So, stay tuned!
Nintendo Switch 2 stock sweep – here’s the latest
As expected, at present, there’s still no Nintendo Switch 2 restock to speak of, for now the console is sold out across major retailers in the U.S.
I’m of course keeping a close watch to alert you if the situation changes, but at present, the Nintendo Switch 2 console supply isn’t matching the demand. However, with Walmart restocking yesterday, and other retailers not taking orders since launch week, I’m keeping my fingers crossed that fresh allocation is the way very soon.
Let get back to Switch 2 restock tracking
Good morning! A new day is starting, and I’m hoping that means more opportunities to score a Nintendo Switch 2 console. We saw a very brief restock yesterday at Walmart, and this could just be a sign of things to come this week. I’m about to dive into all the retailers to see what’s the current, so stick around for your first stock sweep.
Nintendo Switch 2 review!
Speaking about reviews, have you read our Nintendo Switch 2 review? Here’s a snippet!
Nintendo Switch 2 takes what worked about its best-selling predecessor and makes impactful upgrades across the board. From the excellent, and noticeably larger, 7.9-inch display to the more powerful internal specs, Switch 2 is a full leap forward, and the best hybrid console you can buy.
Our Mario Kart World review is live!
My Mario Kart World review has finally gone live! Here’s a snippet:
Mario Kart World powerslides onto Nintendo Switch 2 as the de facto launch game to play in the absence of much competition. It’s a vibrant and joyful racer, perfect for playing with friends and family (or against the world online), but not all the tweaks to the classic Mario Kart formula are successful, with the new open-world mode being particularly underwhelming.
A cheaper storage option
Nintendo is currently selling an officially licensed 256GB microSD Express Card from Samsung for $60. However, if that price is too steep, Walmart is selling a 256GB microSD Express Card from onn for $35. Our very own Anthony Spadafora just bought one for himself and will share his thoughts on it soon!
No new stock (for now)
The Nintendo Switch 2 was back in stock at Walmart just a couple of hours ago, but the console is now sold out everywhere. We just did another check of retailers and have come up dry, which is disappointing but not entirely unexpected. Though the Switch 2 has generally been easier to find than a PS5 was at its launch, you’re still in for a challenge. Regardless, we’ll let you know the instant any retailer has restocked Nintendo’s latest console.
Walmart appears to be sold out of Switch 2 now
That was a strange (and seemingly quite brief) Switch 2 restock at Walmart.
For a few minutes there, the mega-retailer appeared to have Switch 2 consoles in stock, but it’s now once again sold out. The Walmart listing page now directs shoppers to a third-party seller charging $899. Not exactly a bargain to jump on!
Now, I love my Nintendo Switch 2, but you certainly don’t want to spend almost $900 for one. So, like I said below, don’t be tempted to pick up an overpriced console via a reseller, be patient and wait until retailers restock at the standard $449 price.
Walmart has been one of the most consistent retailers for restocks even during the pre-order period, so here’s hoping the next drop of stock isn’t far behind. I’m keeping a close eye on the retailer for now, just in case this surprise drop returns again today.
Still strange pricing at Walmart
Currently, I’m not seeing a normal price for the Switch 2 at Walmart, and it’s now priced at $889. I mean, I suppose that’s less than the $899 price tag I saw before, but nowhere near what you should be paying for a Switch 2. It should be $449 or $499 for the Mario Kart World bundle, and nothing more.
Again, we detest scalping here at Tom’s Guide, so stay away from this price! More restocks should arrive soon, so stay tuned.
Switch 2 now in stock at Walmart
The Switch 2 is now in stock at Walmart, but be warned, it appears to be in such high demand that it’s messing with the listing page.
We just wanted you about avoiding resellers when buying a Switch 2, but here’s another friendly reminder: look at the price before putting it in your cart! When scrolling around looking for more stock, Walmart popped up with the “Add to cart” button available. But paying $899 for a Nintendo Switch 2? No thanks, its $449 price tag is high enough.
Now that would be a shocking price hike, but refreshing the page takes it back down to its $449 cost. Either way, the Switch 2 is in stock at Walmart, so get buying!
One Switch 2 game to put on your radar
Fancy yourself a Nintendo Switch 2 after reading our review? Well, there still isn’t any stock available (yet), but here’s a game you’ll want to put on your radar — especially if you’re a fan of dishing out Hadoukens.
Street Fighter 6 on the Switch 2 is a blast, which may come as a surprise since the Joy-Con controllers aren’t exactly ideal for fighting games. That’s why you’ll want to get yourself a Switch 2 Pro Controller, as we’ve found it truly shines when pulling off specials or supers in the game.
The Switch 2 offers the Year 1-2 Fighters Edition, too, meaning you’re getting a bunch of new (and definitely worthwhile) characters to play from its varied roster. That includes Akuma, M. Bison and The King of Fighters’ Terry.
If you’re banking on getting a Switch 2, Street Fighter 6 is worth putting on your radar.
My Nintendo Switch 2 review is LIVE
Wondering if the Nintendo Switch 2 is worth all the effort of chasing restocks? Then you’ll want to check out my full Nintendo Switch 2 review, which just went live.
If you don’t have time to dive into my (lengthy) write-up, then here’s the cliff notes. I gave the console an Editor’s Choice award, and said, “Nintendo Switch 2 takes what worked about its best-selling predecessor and makes impactful upgrades across the board. From the excellent, and noticeably larger, 7.9-inch display to the more powerful internal specs, Switch 2 is a full leap forward, and the best hybrid console you can buy.”
Yup, I’m seriously impressed with what Nintendo has cooked up, and think this console has a very bright future ahead of it. In fact, my only major point of criticism, beyond the poor battery life, is the lack of launch games. But this lackluster library issue will naturally resolve itself over time, and in a few months won’t be a problem.
PSA: Avoid Switch 2 re-sellers
Over the weekend, I received a very friendly email from a reader pointing out a number of Switch 2 listings on resale sites. Of course, these had a HUGE mark up.
I’m just here to give you a reminder to avoid resellers. Here at Tom’s Guide we detest scalping, and we’re on a dedicated mission to help you secure a Switch 2 at a fair price (i.e. MSRP), and while it can be tempted to just fork out the extra to get a Switch 2 right now, in the long run, it’s not worth the extra cost and only supports the practice.
While the Switch 2 is currently sold out, it won’t be forever, and more restocks will come. So, be patience, and keep following our updates, and you’ll have a Nintendo Switch 2 console without having to cough up a silly amount of cash. Win-win.
Switch 2 in stock at EE but there’s a catch (UK)
Over in the U.K., you can pick up a Nintendo Switch right now, but it comes with some strings. EE is offering the Switch 2 Mario Kart World Bundle with 12 months of Switch Online as part of a 24-month contract.
Essentially, you put down £20 today, and then pay it off in £22 installments over the next two years. This means over the course of the contract, you will pay more than if you bought the items individually upfront. To me, it’s just not a very attractive deal.
It’s doubly unappealing when you consider Switch 2 restocks have been regular in the U.K., so I expect the console will reappear at another retailer where you can just buy it for the standard RRP of £395 standalone or £429 with Mario Kart World bundled.
If you desperately want a Switch 2 secured right this moment, or the contract aspect works better for your budget, then you might want to consider it, but if not, I advise waiting for future Nintendo Switch 2 restocks.
Pro controller is worth the price
One of my biggest takeaways over the past few days of testing out the Nintendo Switch 2 is that the Pro controller might just be one of the best gaming pads ever.
This controller is the only way I want to play Switch 2 on the TV, the Joy-Con 2 grip has gone back in the box, and I don’t see it emerging again for a very long time. Yes, the Pro controller is just that good. The grip is perfect, and the sticks feel so darn tactile.
Prior to launch, I rated this as a worthwhile extra but maybe not an essential one, but after using it for myself, I can say anybody who takes their Switch gaming seriously needs to pick up a Pro controller. It is a little pricey, but it justifies that cost for me.
Switch 2 stock sweep – here’s the state of play in the U.S.
Okay, so I can save you some time already, the Nintendo Switch 2 is currently sold out across retailers in the U.S. If you just wanted a straight answer, there you go.
Personally, I’m not hugely surprised it’s been a slow start to the week on the restock front, after all, Switch 2 launch week saw a flurry of availability, and this was always likely to be followed by a quieter period while retailers build back up inventory.
Let’s hope that Nintendo is getting more units to suppliers and retailers can replenish their allocation quickly. If I had to guess, I would predict that restocks towards the end of the week, or early next week, or most likely, but anything can happen, so I’m still watching out for restocks today. Here are the links if you want to check yourself.
Let’s get Switch 2 restock hunting
Welcome! We’re now in the second week of the Switch 2’s lifecycle, and the console remains pretty darn difficult to purchase. But fear not, I’m on hand to help you secure a console, and will be tracking restocks across retailers alongside flagging the latest Switch 2 news, and giving you my own first impressions of the console as a launch day owner. Let’s dive into the stock tracking now, with my first stock sweep coming up…
