Florida Attorney General Charged Career Criminal with Organized Retail Theft

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier’s Office of Statewide Prosecution charged Zatorya Daniels, who he labeled a career criminal, with two counts of organized retail theft.

“This career criminal committed at least 16 thefts, stealing more than $20,000 worth of items in South Florida,” said Attorney General James Uthmeier. “Thanks to the diligent efforts of Florida law enforcement, her crime spree is over, and our Statewide Prosecutors will ensure she stays behind bars where she belongs.”

A law enforcement investigation uncovered that Zatorya Daniels committed at least 16 thefts, mainly from Ulta Beauty and Walgreens stores, stealing 276 items with a combined value of $21,066. Daniels has an extensive criminal history, with over 20 prior theft convictions.

With the help of accomplices, Daniels would walk into stores, place items in her handbag, and then walk out without paying. The Florida AG said Daniels committed thefts in St. Lucie County, Martin County, Palm Beach County, and Broward County.

Daniels is charged with two counts of organized retail theft. Daniels was arrested while in custody for other prior charges. She faces up to 30 years in prison.

The Martin County Sheriff’s Office conducted the investigation. Assistant Statewide Prosecutor Chris Olowin will handle the case.
