Two children reported missing Friday were found safe and their noncustodial mother, who was also being sought, is in custody, Bourne police said.
Vanessa Downer had been wanted on suspicion of kidnapping of a minor by a relative, police said earlier Friday, asking for help finding her young children. They had last been seen with her in Bourne on Thursday, and police said they may have been traveling out of state, potentially to Florida.
Within about an hour and a half of asking for help finding the family members, police said they’d been found safe, with the help of Massachusetts State Police.
“We will provide additional details at a later date, but the public and law enforcement partnership was key in helping to locate these children quickly and safely and bring a peaceful resolution to the situation,” Bourne police said.
