NEW YORK (Gray Media) – President Donald Trump pardoned 77 people involved in efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election results, including former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani and Trump’s former chief of staff Mark Meadows. The pardons relate to the creation of an alternative slate of electors to tip the election in Trump’s favor, or for any conduct relating to exposing voter fraud or vulnerabilities in that election.
President Trump and his allies tried for months to reverse election results, but their claims were rejected by every level of the court system. Eventually, their efforts put President Trump and many of these allies in legal trouble, most notably in Georgia for their attempts to reverse results in the crucial swing state. None of the people on this list have been charged with federal crimes related to the election and the president’s pardon does not impact state charges. However, the case in Georgia has stalled over issues with the prosecution.
This announcement comes months after President Trump pardoned hundreds of his supporters charged for their involvement in the January 6 riots at the U.S. Capitol.
