Best of Beauty Jan & Feb

In the trash can of January, I didn’t do a product review roundup – it’s still early in February, so I’m still using most of the same things. Anyway, here’s what I’ve been enjoying and liking. Also, I get gifted a LOT of beauty products for review. I’m very lucky that I get to try so many things, but only the things I really, really love make the cut for this newsletter.

Ok, given how stressful the last few weeks have been, I’m not surprised that I look tired, stressful, and a little….gaunt. I don’t normally wear any makeup day to day, but lately, I’ve needed to. This Chanel tint is great – it’s super sheer coverage, but just enough to kind of make me look…alive. The Chanel eyeliner helps my eyes look open and perky, but the most useful thing is this Violette blush, which is kind of the only color product I need or use. Blush man, what a gift to humanity. The Violette blush was gifted.

Given that I’m so tired, my skincare routine has been stripped back to the bare minimum. First, a very good, very gentle cleanser. This gets my sunscreen off, and makes my skin feel clean but not stripped (I also like this mask on my nose, chin, and forehead every so often to slurp the goo out of my pores). Then, in the morning, this incredibly light moisturizing milk – sprinkle a little into your palm and then pat onto wet skin. It isn’t too slippery or tacky, but makes my skin feel very soft. At night, I use this concentrate Attar from Monastery. It’s like a very meltable solid oil that smells like flowers , but actual flowers, not synthetic flowers. It’s super duper moisturizing, and makes my skin look velvety and bouncy. And in the morning, I finish it off with this Supergoop sunscreen I’ve been into lately – it’s very thin and light, it doesn’t make my face feel oily, which I truly can’t stand. These products were gifted.

I’d heard great things about this balm, and I am VERY particular about this stuff, and this one totally lived up to the hype. It’s very silky, looks beautiful on, and makes my lips feel super soft. I loooooove this stuff. This product was gifted.

We spent a lot of January in Palm Springs, which is DRYYYYYYYY, and my hair got CRISSSSPPPPPPPYYYYYYY. I’ve needed to be very gentle with my hair – and this mask makes it feel soft and bouncy and not crispy, especially with this leave-in moisturizer. I’d previously used really fine tooth combs on wet hair, which I know is bad bad, and stretches out my hair, so then I was gifted this comb from Crown Affair, which does the same job of detangling and helping product get all the way through without pulling my hair. The last thing, I’m switched out my old hair ties for these satin ones and a hair pin to hopefully not pull so much on it. We’ll see in a few months if it all works – I’m trying to grow it all out so I need it to let it chill and not be fucked with for a while. The Roz & Crown Affair products were gifted.

My skin was so tight and itchy in Palm Springs, I started using this kind of random Lubriderm body wash that has ceramides in it, and it honestly makes such a huge difference! It was like the only thing available at the drug store, and thank goodness because it very much does the job. Then, I started using this body oil on damp skin and it absolutely did the trick. No more itchies. The Hanni oil was gifted.
