Central Florida Flood Watches expire

ORLANDO, Fla. —  Update: The Flash Flood Warning in Northwestern Brevard County was allowed to expire at 1 p.m.

As of 12 p.m., up to 6.5 inches of rain had already been recorded, with more continuing to fall.

Central Florida is facing an elevated risk of flood potential on Tuesday as a disorganized area of low pressure moves over the state. This low has been flagged with a medium chance of tropical development, but that would be after it passes Central Florida and emerges into the Gulf.

Deep tropical moisture will be drawn across the peninsula Tuesday supporting the higher coverage of rain. Some may see 3-4” with isolated amounts of 4-7” possible, which may lead to flash flooding.

Much of the area has been placed under a Flood Watch through late Tuesday evening. This means that the potential is there for flooding to occur; excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.

If conditions worsen, we could see Flood Warnings issued. Be sure to have notifications turned on within the Spectrum News App so you can stay up to date on these alerts.

Remember to never drive through flooded roadways; turn around, don’t drown.
