When Mike and Bailey, of Columbus, Ohio, saw the delivery driver arrive with their new bathroom vanity, they didn’t think much of it.

However, when it came time to collect the item from the porch, they were in for a surprise.

“We ordered a bathroom vanity with a marble countertop that weighs about 115 pounds,” Mike told Newsweek. “The way the Home Depot delivery driver carried it up the driveway, at least from what we saw on the camera, I figured it wasn’t too heavy. He made it look easy. So I was surprised to say the least.”

As Mike went to pick up the parcel, he quickly realized that it was much heavier than it looked, and the video captured the moment he struggled to pick it up.

“It was more so a leverage issue picking it up straight off the ground and navigating the steps with a large box that is sort of awkward to carry,” Mike said. “[It took] probably 5 minutes to get it inside; basically what you see in the video, but we did edit out a few parts.

“And the vanity is for our upstairs bathroom, but it’s currently sitting in our living room downstairs, so stay tuned for when we make the trip upstairs with it.”

The couple, both 29, started their DIY Instagram account @jonesingtobehome “shortly after we bought our house and started working on DIY projects.”

The couple said: “We’re not experts and usually run into unexpected challenges with most projects. There are so many DIY accounts out there that are great, but, often, you don’t see all the hiccups and challenges in between.”

As the clip gained more attention on Instagram, it soon had more than 1.8 million views. In the comments, people shared their reactions. In the video, Mike joked that “the Home Depot guy is evidently the strongest man alive.”

“Delivery staff is definitely build different,” posted one commenter, while another Instagram user wrote: “You should have called him back.”

For Mike and Bailey, the humor is the point. “We’re firm believers in not taking life too seriously and being able to laugh at yourself from time to time. So that was the inspiration behind sharing this. There’s not enough of that on social media,” Mike said.

Even the comment section reflects that mix. Mike added: “You even see it in the comments on this video—people arguing with each other, negative comments, unsolicited advice, critiques about the two of us from total strangers who don’t know us. But that’s social media for you. And, among all those negative comments, there are far more positive ones.

“Do I look stupid and like I don’t know what I’m doing? Sure. But that’s the point,” Mike said. “I can laugh at myself and recognize how ridiculous I look compared to the delivery guy who made it look easy.”
