Following the success of the August slate against Ron DeSantis’s endorsements, 19 local candidates to receive increased party support
Today, the Florida Democratic Party is proud to announce their slate of Take Back Local candidates for the November 2024 elections.
The Take Back Local program is an initiative to provide resources to candidates in competitive local races across the state. Nineteen candidates, selected through a rigorous application and vetting process, will receive grassroots organizing and fundraising support from the Florida Democratic Party.
This announcement follows the incredible success of the August Take Back Local slate, in which 7 of the 11 candidates won their races outright and two more advanced to runoffs — outpacing Ron DeSantis, who only saw 6 of his 23 endorsed school board candidates win their races in August. In addition to school board candidates, the November slate is expanding to include candidates for county commissions, state attorney, and supervisor of elections.
“In August, Florida Democrats proved that Floridians are getting tired of Ron’s culture wars,” said FDP Chair Nikki Fried. “We know that with the right investments and hard work, Democrats can and will have success in Florida — that’s why we’re expanding our Take Back Local program to be larger and more diverse than ever.
“These candidates exemplify Democratic values, and I’m proud to support them in every way we can. We expect to continue gaining ground for Democrats in local races and building the bench for our future.”
