The Florida Gators are a a few days away from the start of the Early Signing Period, which will be the time many recruits put pen to paper and sign with their school of choice. There are some changes this year from past years, as recruits won’t sign a traditional National Letter of Intent, and will instead sign Financial Aid Agreement papers. Florida has been picking up steam on the recruiting front, and now holds the No. 15 ranked class per 247Sports. There are still some targets left in play, and the Gators are still in their ear, as they work to close out the first wave of the signing class.
Swamp247 brings you some notes on those remaining targets in the latest edition of the Florida Gators Recruiting War Room.
– 5-star CB DJ Pickett (LSU commit): Pickett has been committed to the LSU Tigers since the summer, and during the time of that pick, the Gators found themselves on the outside looking in. While this recruitment does still seem like an uphill climb for Billy Napier and the staff, he’s an elite talent, and the staff will keep pressing for him till the end. Pickett is expected to be at LSU this weekend, and is also expected to depart from Baton Rouge sometime on Sunday. With the defections LSU has suffered in recent weeks, this is one they can’t afford to lose, and one would think his NIL offer would rise if he were in jeopardy of leaving. In our opinion, he makes this list more for the talent he’s got, and not so much of us viewing Florida as a major factor.
