Recently, our source returned with an update: over an hour of footage from the canceled game has surfaced online, spread across 18 videos. According to the former worker, the videos showcase one of the game’s builds and provide a look at Escape from New York: The Game’s development maps, assets, character and weapon animations, playable characters and their skills, and some of the WIP mechanics.
One of the videos also includes over 15 minutes of gameplay, providing a glimpse of what the game might have been if it hadn’t been canceled – a co-op and/or multiplayer title powered by Unreal Engine 5, featuring at least three playable characters with unique abilities that players would need to use to navigate various levels.
80 Level has reached out to Embracer Group and Slipgate Ironworks for comment on the game’s cancellation and why both have yet to acknowledge its existence. In the meantime, you can check out the videos yourself by clicking this link.
