Here’s one thing The Undertaker respects about CM Punk

During an interview on MightyCast w/ Demetrious Johnson, The Undertaker and Johnson briefly discussed CM Punk’s failed MMA career circa 2015 through 2018, where it was clear right away that he had no business competing in UFC’s octagon.

Johnson didn’t understand Punk’s star power in the pro wrestling world and had no idea why there was so much buzz about him. Undertaker agreed that Punk was in over his head in UFC, particularly because he didn’t have the amateur wrestling background of an athlete like Brock Lesnar. However, the Dead Man does respect Punk for taking such a big chance:

“One thing though with that at least with Punk I do respect, the fact that he tried it. He had a huge name in wrestling before he tried mixed martial arts…he had a lot to lose because [pro wrestling] was his money maker and then you go over there and you get your ass handed to you. But I had a lot of respect for him for the fact that he gave it a shot. It was something that he wanted to do. He did it. It didn’t work out, and he’s back where he should be, and everything is right in the world, I guess.”

It’s been over 10 years since CM’s last televised singles match in WWE, but that’s going to change on Saturday (Aug. 3) at SummerSlam when he fights Drew McIntyre in one of WWE’s most anticipated matches of the year.

With that in mind, do you agree with The Undertaker that Punk is back where he should be and everything is right in the world? Let me know in the comments below, Cagesiders.
