New odour-banishing ingredients have hit the market. Here’s what makes them different

While the fragrance world has been taking scent to new extremes with a focus on ultra-potent elixirs, as well as swapping out traditional fruits and florals in favour of vegetal notes, a quiet revolution has been happening in the odour elimination market.

Last year saw several fragrance makers issue new materials that have been developed to reduce unpleasant smells – technologies which have various applications in beauty and personal care.

“Typically, we would include odour neutralising technologies in cosmetics and toiletries where there is a requirement for effectiveness against malodours,” says Michael White, Global Applications and New Technologies Director at Croda-owned fragrance manufacturer Iberchem.
