Over 60 children rescued in ‘largest child rescue operation in American history’: marshals
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTSP/CNN/CNN Newsource/WKRC) – Dozens of children were rescued in what authorities are calling the “largest child rescue operation in American history.”
Authorities in Florida have successfully recovered more than 60 children in what the U.S. Marshals are calling the largest child rescue operation in American history.
The children, ranging in age from 9 to 17, were reported missing, endangered, or were victims of trafficking, according to Florida’s Attorney General.
“These kids have been through painful, disastrous situations. But at least today we’ve rescued them and we now can work towards recovery,” said James Uthmeier, Florida Attorney General, per WTSP.
The operation, named Dragon Eye, resulted in eight adults being charged with crimes including human trafficking, child endangerment, and drug offenses. The two-week operation involved dozens of law enforcement officers from 20 different agencies. Bonds for the suspects range from none to $250 million.
