Fenty Beauty’s latest launch is for the mascara lovers among us. “The eyes tell such a story. They can really say it all and show off a feeling, a mood, and a vibe with just a look,” Rihanna tells Bazaar. Out April 11, the brand’s best-selling Hella Thicc Volumizing Mascara is coming in a new shade that’s perfect for spring: Let’z Be Blunt, a soft brown. The brand is also taking lashes to new levels of drama with the introduction of the Hella Extra Mascara-Boosting Lash Primer, which boosts the wear, volume, and intensity of any mascara layered on top.
Rihanna, naturally, has a genius mascara trick that we’ll be borrowing for the foreseeable future. “I’m really into layering my mascara colors—mixing Cuz I’m Black on top and Let’z Be Blunt on the bottom,” she tells us. Brown mascara is a great option if your lashes are naturally light or if you’re looking for a more natural finish than black. But brown is also a perfect option to wear on your bottom lashline if you want subtle definition. It’s all about options, really.
The new Hella Extra Mascara-Boosting Lash Primer is for those who need their Fenty mascara to last through whatever life throws at you—energetic toddlers, a Super Bowl performance, a Bazaar cover shoot, that kind of thing. “I wanted to make a lash primer that not only made your mascara wear better and bigger but also nourished your lashes to keep them healthy and strong at the same time,” Rihanna says. The result is nothing short of spectacular, even if you’re not one to usually reach for a lash primer. It has an exclusive cocoa-nude tint, so it pairs well with either shade of the Hella Thicc mascara. The brand recommends applying a coat, waiting five to 10 seconds, and then layering on your favorite mascara for a smudge-proof false-lash effect.
Hella Thicc Volumizing Mascara in Let’s Be Blunt ($20) and Hella Extra Mascara-Boosting Lash Primer ($19) will be available April 11 at fentybeauty.com, ulta.com, and Ulta stores.
