Victoria Beckham Just Reimagined This Viral Beauty Trend

“Victoria was telling me that the whole idea behind the collection was this idea of continuity and the instincts,” make-up artist Lucia Pica told Vogue ahead of last night’s Victoria Beckham AW25 runway in Paris. The beauty of accessorising with “something done in the spur of a moment” was part of the evening’s charm. Backstage, models were still wrapped in VB-monogrammed white terrycloth not unlike the collection’s closing look (as if Victoria had cropped her best spa robe in the spur of the moment). According to Beckham herself, “Sometimes the best things come together by chance.”

For the make-up, Pica found this spirit of spontaneity in the collection’s subtle pops of floor-length fiery red and fuzzy burgundy. She brought the latter directly to the face with a “beautiful burgundy mascara that’s called Bordeaux” that will be released next month within the Future Lash colour range. Essentially, the viral mascara shade that celebs like Millie Bobby Brown love has been reimagined by Beckham, and on models, Pica applied it with the designer’s playful instinct – the clumpier, the better. To keep up the balance of contrast, brows were lightened with a swipe of FeatherFix Brow Gel in Blonde and skin kept natural with touches of the Concealer Pen and blurred gently with The Cell Rejuvenating Illuminator in Pearlescent and Golden. Pica was ultimately “creating this aura of softness”.

Steps away, hair artist Anthony Turner delivered his own aura. “One of the main conversations we had about the hair is we wanted something that kind of touched on androgyny, but without it feeling too uptight at the same time,” said Turner of his talks with Beckham. “We wanted something that felt softer, more luxurious, sort of brushed and easy,” he explained. He prepped hair with Wella Ultimate Repair mist, touting its ability to work for all hair textures as a heat protectant before smoothing crowns with GHD’s Chronos straightener for a sleek, deep side part. Hair was tied low with elastics tuned to each model (“one thing Victoria absolutely loves is a band that matches the girl’s hair colour”) and gently bent at the ends with a curling iron. Then, to “maintain the wave”, lengths were twisted and pinned until the last minute. Released and finally on the runway, the effect was cool, classic and delightfully familiar: “I mean, at the end of the day, Victoria always loves a ponytail,” said Turner. “It’s great, it works – and it’s good to own something.”
