Oscars 2025: The Biggest Make-Up Trends That Ruled The Red Carpet
As Hollywood’s biggest night just rounded up, it was more than a celebration of cinematic excellence. It’s a front-row seat to the year’s most stunning trends, a masterclass in fashion and beauty, with Hollywood’s most celebrated people embracing everything from radiant bases and barely-there lips to bold statement lips and metallic eyes.
This year, minimalism met high glamour, and we’re all up for it. Whether it was the sleek, monochromatic look Ariana Grande sported, the classic Hollywood glam Selena Gomez served, or even Lupita Nyong’o’s unexpected pop of blue eyeshadow, the make-up trends at the Oscars gave us plenty to take inspiration from.
Here are some of our favourite trends from the red carpets, in no particular order.
-
Bleached Brows
The ultimate punk style of the night, Miley Cyrus made heads turn with her fearless bleached brows, proving once again that she isn’t the one to shy away from bold and rebellious beauty. A gothic goddess indeed.
-
Forward blush
Championing the statement ‘elegant’, we had Elle Fanning with a bold cat-eye look and forward blush, adding just the right pop of colour. Excuse us while we go practise our forward blush.
-
No Foundation Skin
Taking the no make-up make-up look up a notch, Emma Stone was a sight to behold with a barely there foundation, letting her freckles peek through; we are in awe of this look.
-
Messy Eyeliner
The winner of the night was Mikey Madison. No combination of the 26 letters in the English alphabet can do justice to her Oscars 2025 look. She was winning in all aspects.
-
Monochromatic Make-up
Another Glinda-approved look, Ariana Grande continues her streak of pink monochromatic looks, and we are not complaining.
-
Cat Eye Flicks
Julianne Hough proved that a classic cat-eye flick never goes out of style. Sharp and precise, her look added the perfect touch of old Hollywood glamour to the red carpet.
-
Siren Eyes
Siren eyes are here to stay, in a very ’90s-inspired look. Lily-Rose Depp sported a high-contrast nude lip and a matching siren eye.
-
Contoured Cheeks
Effortlessly blending elegance with chic, Rachel Zegler stole the show with her brushed-out curls. But it was her sculpted, contoured cheeks that gave her waves a run for their money.
-
Glossy Lips
Just like Cynthia Erivo’s stiletto nails, glossy lips are here to stay. And we are not the ones to complain; we love the look of plump and radiant lips; it adds an extra oomph to your look, and Cynthia is a testament to that.
-
Copper look
A very polished look for the night. The winner of best supporting actress, Zoe Saldana, has a copper look with her signature glossy lip. We might change our beauty routines just for her.
-
Metallic Eyes
Yvonne Orji brought the shimmer to the red carpet with her striking metallic eyes. The bold, reflective finish with an elegant touch made her gaze absolutely mesmerising.
-
Blue Eyes
Another bold look of the night, Lupita Nyong’o played up both eyes and her lips by opting for a blue eyeshadow look and berry lips.
-
Bronzed Cheeks
We cannot possibly take our eyes off his perfectly bronzed cheeks; BRB, going to take a class on how to slay bronzed cheeks like Omar Apollo.
-
Nude Ombre Lips
The iconic ‘90s lip, and who could’ve better sported it than Doja Cat? With the smoky cat eye and leopard print dress, nude ombre lips were like the cherry on top.
-
Berry Lips
Could this be the start of berry lips having a major moment? We are all up for it either way. A very sophisticated look, the deep berry hue added just the right touch of drama, making it the perfect statement for the red carpet.
