In Cowboy country, orange is always in style. “Chris’ University Spirit opened in 1986, and we’ve always been right here at this location on campus corner,” Duston MacDonald, owner of the store, said. “It’s just kind of a fun atmosphere. I think just because we’re so close to the stadium people like to come here and shop.” As fans and students gear up for the start of Oklahoma State’s football season, game day merchandise is selling fast. “Just your general OSU merch, getting ready for game day,” MacDonald said. From students to alumni, every fan has their own spin. “These are the game bibs. Super popular. Kind of that crazy fan that wants to really stand out at a game will get this,” MacDonald said. “It was really big at other schools two years ago, but this year it’s really caught on to OSU. Pair it well with the overalls,” MacDonald said. “So, who wears those?” Meghan asked. “Crazy people,” MacDonald responded. At Chris’ University Spirit, employees said they are always trying to be on the cutting edge of the trending items. “We’ve got sources. We’re a part of a group called University Spirit of America that we meet every year and talk about these things, so we really catch on to trends before they happen. Social media, and we go to market in Vegas to get trends,” MacDonald said. Girls can accessorize on their purses, jackets shirts.” He says glitz and glam are still popular among college students. “Bling is real popular still. I thought it was going to die off, but I think girls will always want to look and stand out and be blingy,” MacDonald said. But are there any fashion don’ts for Boone Pickens Stadium?”Well, you definitely don’t want to wear red,” MacDonald said while laughing. “Absolutely no red.”
