Anchorage Housing Summit spotlights construction trends, market outlook | Local & State News

Discussions about the future of housing took center stage this week at the Dena’ina Center in Anchorage, as experts and industry leaders gathered for the Anchorage Home Builders Association’s 2025 Housing Summit.

The event focused on construction trends, housing prices, and the outlook for Alaska’s real estate market.

Robert Dietz of the National Association of Home Builders highlighted some of the unique challenges facing the state.

“Building materials are a greater challenge here,” Dietz said. “Some of the things we’re hoping for in terms of policy improvement—regulatory reforms, improvements with the skilled labor force—have a particularly positive impact for Alaska.”

The National Association of Home Builders also anticipates additional Federal Reserve interest rate cuts this year, a move that could make homeownership more attainable for residents. Experts say that, if trends hold, more people in Anchorage could be in the market to buy homes by 2027.
