Idaho State Police are investigating a vehicle collision that occurred at approximately 2:45 PM on State Highway 41 near mile post 18, south of Spirit Lake, ID.

A silver Ford F250, driven by a 21-year-old male from Priest River, Idaho, was traveling northbound on State Highway 41 when the vehicle went left of center, into the southbound lane. The Silver Ford F250 crashed into a black Ford F350 towing a trailer, driven by a 62-year-old male from Palm Harbor, Florida, which was traveling southbound on the highway.

The driver of the silver Ford F250 was not wearing his seatbelt and succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the crash. The driver of the black Ford F350 was wearing his seatbelt and was transported to the hospital via ground ambulance. Evidence was found on scene to indicate that alcohol may have been involved in this crash. Next of kin has been notified.

The highway was blocked for approximately 2 and a half hours. Assisting agencies included Spirit Lake Police Department, Spirit Lake Fire, and Northern Lakes Fire District.

This incident remains under investigation by Idaho State Police.
