Martha Stewart Wore a Monochromatic Look: Shop Her Outfit

This New York Fashion Week, Martha Stewart is once again showcasing her style acumen. 

Of her looks so far, I am most besotted with the monochromatic ensemble Stewart wore to the L’Agence presentation at the New York Public Library. To be specific, she donned a burgundy tie-neck blouse tucked into burgundy wide-leg slacks, which she accessorized with a black wallet phone case on a lanyard and what I can best surmise are brown platform sandals. 

Why is this a winning look? Well, Stewart’s use of the deep, rich burgundy hue tastefully ushers in autumn. This look also reminded me that a monochromatic ‘fit is the ultimate trick to balancing minimal effort and maximum visual interest.

Banana Republic Factory Tie-Neck Blouse, $30 at checkout

Stewart is no stranger to a tie-neck blouse, having worn the style in both bright yellow and olive green recently. And if you want to duplicate her look, I found a similar style in burgundy for only $30. Constructed of a lightweight chiffon, the top is slightly sheer, so I recommend wearing it with a camisole underneath. What’s most fun about tops like this is that you can play with styling the front, whether as a bow, a knot, or left untied.

These burgundy wide-leg slacks complete the other half of the monochromatic look. They have pleats on the front and back of each leg, a faux fly, front pockets, and back welt pockets. Plus, there’s an elastic waistband, which adds to the overall comfort.
