A U.S. customer has persuaded Mini to build a genuine ‘one-of-one’ John Cooper Works Convertible at its Oxford factory.
Mini describes the Cooper‘s future keeper as “a devoted Mini enthusiast,” and the company has rewarded years of loyalty by creating the Mini.01, which is unlike any other ever made.
Most striking is the car’s two-tone metallic green and black paintwork. It’s a genuinely unique color combination, chosen to match the buyer’s favorite NFL team, and split on the diagonal. The triple-layer paint was applied by hand, giving Mini’s robots some time off.
The soft top, meanwhile, features a Union Jack motif, and there are bespoke badges that read “Mini Super Special 001” and “Mini.01.” JCW front and side winglets are installed, together with 18-inch JCW Rallyw Spoke alloy wheels. The mirror caps are finished with black and white stripes.
Inside, the green theme is continued with stitching, seatbelt covers, speaker surrounds for the Harmon Kardon audio system, and other elements matching the external hue. In all, some 50 different green details provide a contrast to the black leather and fabric trim.

“Our owners see their MINI as more than just a car, and for many, it becomes a canvas for self-expression shaped into a true reflection of their personality,” says Kate Alini, Head of Marketing, Product, and Strategy, MINI USA. “This project gave us the opportunity to explore creating a unique, custom-crafted MINI specific to customer preferences. With a vision this distinctive for a one-off car, it was exciting to see our customer’s vision come to life.”
Whether you like this particular execution or not, it certainly stands out, and more importantly, paves the way for customers to go beyond the online configurator and opt for an even more ambitious level of personalization from the British small car brand.
