Woman accused of forcing teen with autism to find escaped dog during severe thunderstorm

WACO, Texas (KWTX/Gray News) – A woman is accused of forcing an autistic teenager to find an escaped dog during a severe thunderstorm in Texas.

According to an arrest warrant, Dianna Frost, 59, was arrested after telling a girl with level 3 autism “not to come back home” until she found a dog that had escaped during a severe thunderstorm in Waco, Texas.

Police said the incident happened in May during a storm with hail and lightning.

The 14-year-old was reported missing, and the Waco Police Department utilized multiple resources, including social media, drones and K-9 units to find her.

In interviews with witnesses and relatives, detectives learned Frost told the girl not to return home until she found the missing dog, according to the arrest warrant.

According to police, Frost waited hours to report the girl missing and initially told police that the girl disappeared while chasing after the dog when it ran away during the storm. She allegedly told police that she followed the girl before losing sight of her.

Police said Frost “provided inconsistent information about what happened the day the victim could not be located.”

When police found the girl and interviewed her, she told detectives that Frost ordered her to go find the dog.

A family member “corroborated that [Frost] told the girl to chase the family pet, which he believed was a bad idea,” police wrote in the warrant.
