Alberto Gutierrez and Andre Coker face cocaine trafficking charges after deputies allegedly found 68 grams of cocaine and a handgun in their car during a stop.
COLUMBIA, S.C. — Two Columbia men are facing gun and drug charges following their arrests in the Florida Keys on Sunday.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office announced that 34-year-old Alberto Gutierrez and 44-year-old Andre Coker were arrested following a traffic stop on U.S. 1.
The sheriff’s office said deputies stopped a speeding BMW sedan around 3:30 a.m. Authorities said there was a THC pen in sight, and the vehicle smelled of marijuana.
Deputies found a .45 caliber Glock, more than 68 grams of cocaine and more than 21 grams of marijuana in the car. They also found seven prescription pills and $641 in cash.
The sheriff’s office said Gutierrez, who was the driver, had previous drug and weapon offenses on his record.
He was charged with cocaine trafficking, possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of ammunition by a convicted felon.
Coker was charged with cocaine trafficking, possession of a controlled substance without a prescription and possession of drug paraphernalia.
