SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) – It was Christmas eve, eve or Dec. 23rd. 1989 when we saw a very rare dusting of snow from Venice northward through Manatee County. A thin layer of snow accumulated on cars and lawns across the area. People were able to gather enough snow off of cars and lawns to make snowballs.
A much different picture this year. Warm temperatures continue to be the weather story as of late. We will throw in a little patchy dense fog over the upcoming mornings but shouldn’t be too much of a problem.
The high at SRQ was 83 degrees today just 2 degrees shy of tying a record set back in 1990. This warm weather will stick around through the weekend as high pressure remains in control.
Christmas should be nice and warm with mostly sunny skies and highs in the mid to upper 70s at the beach and low 80s away from the Gulf and Bays.
The next big weather maker is a cold front on the way for Monday. This front will cool things down for the last two days of 2025. New Year’s Eve could be on the chilly side but nothing drastic.
There will only be a few passing showers with this front as it moves through on Monday. We will see the winds pick up next week with some boating advisories likely for late Monday through Tuesday.
The boating weather here should be nice over the next few days with only a light chop on the waters.
