#47 Maryland Women’s Tennis Defeats #22 Wisconsin in Absolute Thriller! First Top 25 Win in 13 Years!

COLLEGE PARK, MD – The University of Maryland Women’s Tennis Team won its second home Big Ten conference match of the season against #22-ranked Wisconsin 4-3. 

In doubles, the Badgers earned the point after winning two of the three doubles matches.

In singles matches, Emma Ghirardato and Diya Challa win in two sets, giving the Terps the lead. After Oliwia Orlinska and Lucia Donnelly fell in their matches, in addition to Magdalena Baniak winning, it all came down to Ema Kovacevic’s match.

Tied at 1-1, Kovacevic’s match went down to the wire, finally winning the third set, 6-4

This gave the Terps a 4-3 victory over Wisconsin. This is the first top-25 win since 2013, when they defeated #11-ranked Duke.

The Terps are now 11-2 and 3-1 in Big Ten Conference play!
