Authorities including the FBI and the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office announced Tuesday that nearly 50 people were arrested in the multi-agency “Operation Viper” to target violent crime.
Forty-eight people were arrested in the operation that ran from mid-July through September in West Palm Beach, Martin and St. Lucie counties.
Authorities also seized 23 firearms and drug paraphernalia during “Operation Viper.”
“Operation Viper sent a clear message to violent offenders across our region: we will not tolerate gun violence or those who bring fear into our neighborhoods,” St. Lucie County Sheriff Richard Del Toro said. “This operation is a powerful example of what can be achieved when federal and local agencies unite with a shared mission.”
“Operation Viper” was also conducted in Miami-Dade and Broward counties from May to June, resulting in 60 local arrests, five federal arrests and 21 firearms seized.
