Bobby Lashley Leaving WWE: News On Contract Expiry Date & AEW Conversations

The latest on Bobby Lashley, WWE and what the future holds for the former World Champion.

Bobby Lashley will depart WWE in a matter of days.

Back in July, it was reported that Bobby Lashley was the latest WWE star to be approaching the end of his contract and that neither side had been able to come to terms of a new deal. Follow-up reports also confirmed that Lashley’s former manager and close friend MVP would also be leaving the promotion and that there was interest in both wrestlers potentially joining AEW. While MVP’s contract has expired and he is now a free agent, more details have been provided regarding the former WWE Champion.

As reported by Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, Lashley’s contract will expire this weekend [August 10th and 11th] and many within the company are expecting Lashley to leave the company at this point, adding that there are no creative plans in place for The Allmighty. Additionally, Lashley has been discussed backstage in AEW but has not been approached regarding an offer as he is still under a WWE contract at this point.

While Lashley has been previously sidelined with an injury, those close to the former World Champion stated that he is ready to return to TV and are expecting an AEW appearance at some point.

When Did Bobby Lashley Last Wrestle?

Lashley’s final match with the company took place at a live event on May 5th, where the former WWE Champion defeated Santos Escobar. Lashley’s final televised match took place back in April and saw The Allmighty face off against LA Knight and Santos Escobar in a triple threat match, which was won by Knight.

Many have felt that Lashley’s most recent run has been underwhelming given his potential as the former World Champion was seen in a lenghty feud with The Final Testament and placed in a number of meaningless matches. While Lashley was a part of a multi-man match at WrestleMania 40, he was left off the card entirely the year prior.
