Bryan uploaded a minute-long snippet of his upcoming song, “Bad News,” to Instagram on Friday.

It contains lyrics that appear to reference raids by Immigration and Customs Enforcement in a negative way.

“And ICE is gonna come bust down your door, try to build a house no one builds no more, but I got a telephone, kids are all scared and all alone,” he sings.

The 29-year-old singer and veteran captioned the snippet, “the fading of the red, white, and blue.”

While common in forms of music like rock, progressive lyrics can be commercially treacherous for country artists. They tend to rely on a generally more politically conservative fan base.

Bryan may have more goodwill with fans to express such views because he became popular while still serving in the Navy.
