We will fly the Commonwealth flag to commemorate Commonwealth Day 2026 on Monday 9 March.
Commonwealth Day 2026 will be celebrated in countries across Africa, Asia, the Caribbean and Americas, the Pacific and Europe.
Unlocking opportunities together
It’s a day for us to recognise the friendships, connections and achievements we share with millions of people around the world.
This year’s theme, Unlocking opportunities together for a prosperous Commonwealth, focuses on how we can support each other to build a better future. It reminds us that strong communities, fair opportunities and caring for our environment all play a part in helping people – especially young people and women – gain the skills and confidence they need to succeed.
All Commonwealth countries are linked by the values in the Commonwealth Charter, which highlight the importance of unity, respect and peace. These principles show how powerful it can be when we work together and look out for one another.
Here in the Epping Forest district, we will be flying the Commonwealth Flag to show that we are proud to be part of a global community built on friendship and shared purpose.
Councillor Louise Mead, Chairman of Epping Forest District Council
Shared and lasting prosperity for all
This year’s theme Unlocking opportunities together for a prosperous Commonwealth, highlights how the 56 member countries of the Commonwealth can rally together to face today’s challenges and unlock opportunities that can deliver shared and lasting prosperity for all who live in the Commonwealth – from the smallest, most remote communities to the biggest cities.
