While the Golden Globes salutes the best in film and television from the previous year, it also provides a sneak peek into what trends and colours will land on vanity tables and in closets in the spring and summer. Red carpet reporters observed Amy Adams and Ali Wong adopted a less-is-more approach, with nude lips and face with just the right amount of luminosity. Kerry Washington, Mindy Kaling, and others showed that a clean face was a perfect canvas for smoky eyes. Smoothly styled hair, as seen on Eiza González and Cate Blanchett, nicely frames subtle but striking make-up.

For any of these looks to resonate, however, one needs to start with a foundation of healthy, well cared-for skin. Thankfully, anybody can achieve this with a curated arsenal of skin care products. In the two days leading up to the Globes, some of the most prominent K-beauty brands were out in force. Top LA lifestyle writers and influences stopped by a charming pop-up boutique, made extra fun with K-Pop music and Korean treats, to pick up the latest from brands like Neogen Lab, Sungboon Editor, Dear, Klairs, I’m From, by Wishtrend, O. R. G., and Milktouch, along with a few useful tips on which products fit in most snugly with the guests’ individual looks and lifestyles.

Although skin care was the main attraction at the pop-up, colour make-up from Milktouch showed how easy it could be to bring those red carpet looks into real life. Milktouch Milky Glow Cushion Foundation (US$28) is not just a great travel companion for women on the go, but boasts one of the most inclusive shade ranges in K-beauty and a sheer finish. It promises all-day skin hydration, brightens the look of hyperpigmentation, and balances oil. The Milktouch Jelly Fit Tinted Glow Tint (US$15), a fantastic supporting player, comes in four natural, juicy shades and contains squalane and antioxidants for full-day moisturizing and protection.

Neogen, regarded as the leader in K-beauty comprehensive clinical testing for every product and known for high-performing products for every skin type, featured such all-star products including Neogen Extra Slim Metal Mascara (US$38, featuring its metal wand for precision application), Neogen Hyal Glow Rose Essence (US$29, an aromatic toner made with three types of Damask rose extracts), Neogen Probiotics Double Action Serum (US$42, a triple probiotic complex which restores the skin microbiome to reinforce the moisture barrier), and Neogen All Day Locking Fixer (US$28, setting makeup while keeping skin moisturized).

Sungboon Editor prides itself in “editing” available beneficial ingredients before blending high concentrations of the best into their products and backing their claims with extensive clinical testing. Items showcased included some of Amazon’s best selling: Deep Collagen Power Boosting Mask (US$33), Deep Collagen Barrier Serum Mist (US$32), and other serums, masks, and moisturizers.

Another genius item, O. R. G. Organic Mineral Peel Face (US$36), is an easy-to-apply exfoliant that washes away dead skin and impurities without mess or waste. minimizes mess and reduces product wastage. It can be used in the daytime to prep the skin for smooth make-up application or nighttime to remove the make-up and grime a cleanser may have missed.
