Irving, TEXAS – Police have issued an Athena Alert and are asking for the public’s help in finding an 12-year-old girl who went missing Sunday morning on her way to a birthday party in Irving.
What we know
Alison Ramirez-Lopez, 12, left her home around 10 a.m. to attend a nearby birthday party but never arrived.
She was last seen on Feb. 9 in the 1000 block of Harlan Street.
Police believe she may be in Alabama or a surrounding state.
Ramirez-Lopez is described as 5 feet 6 inches tall with brown eyes and brown hair. She was last seen wearing blue jeans, a black hoodie, and black shoes.
What is an Athena Alert?
The Athena Alert was created by Texas lawmakers in 2023 following the disappearance of 7-year-old Athena Strand in Wise County.
Athena disappeared on a Wednesday night, but an Amber Alert wasn’t issued until Thursday afternoon because her case didn’t meet the criteria. The new law allows an Athena Alert to be issued when a child goes missing, but there is no confirmation of an abduction.
The alert can be sent to people within a 100-mile radius of the disappearance.
What we don’t know

It’s unclear why Alison may be in Alabama or nearby states.
