Big E has given his thoughts on the recent dissension between fellow New Day members Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods.
An extremely rare exception to the rule in professional wrestling, The New Day have remained united for over a decade and has shown virtually no signs of dissension when just about every tag team has feuded with each other at some point in their careers. However, in recent weeks on Raw Woods has been the target of Karrion Kross, who has attempted to drive a wedge between the group and convince Woods to forge his own path as a singles star.
Speaking with Chris Vannini on the Getting Over podcast, Big E noted that while they have all had their individual successes, now the group is figuring out what is next:
“Yeah, you know, obviously those are my brothers for life. There is a bit of a crux. Like, we have spent so much time at the top of the tag team division. Kofi [Kingston] being World Champion, I got an opportunity to be World Champion, and [Xavier] Woods is King of the Ring. After the run in the NXT, I feel like now, where do we fit here? I feel like it’s a bit of a crossroads for them figuring out what they want to do.”
Continuing, the former World Champion added that it is something that Woods and Kingston need to figure out but they both have a lot more they can contribute to WWE either together or separately:
“I feel like this is something they need to go through. Something they need to handle it as well and figure it out. Kofi’s in his 40s now, and Woods is in his late 30s. I still think they have a ton more to offer, and whether they do that as a collective? Whether they do that as singles? I feel it’s an interesting time for them to see which direction they would go.”
Will Big E Return To The Ring?
Now more than 2 years on from his accident on an episode of SmackDown, Big E has not shown any indication of stepping abc inside the squared circle. Speaking in the same interview, Big E explained what conditions need to be met before he could be cleared to compete once again.
