And there it is.
After re-signing both Alex Singleton and Justin Strnad, the Denver Broncos are releasing inside linebacker Dre Greenlaw, according to a report from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. The move will leave behind about $4.33 milliion in “dead money” while creating a net gain of just over $6 million in salary cap space, according to OverTheCap.com.
Greenlaw (6-0, 230 pounds) signed a three-year, $31.5 million contract with the Broncos in 2025. The 28-year-old linebacker missed the first six games of the 2025 season with a quad injury, then he received a one-game suspension after his 2025 debut. He later missed the regular-season finale with a hamstring injury.
Greenlaw was productive when healthy, totaling 43 tackles, two pass breakups, two quarterback hits, one interception and one sack in eight games (seven starts). Once released, he should draw interest from other clubs.
Denver, meanwhile, is now poised to run it back with Singleton and Strnad in 2026. The team will likely look to add more depth and competition at linebacker, either through free agency, the draft or both.
