Rain is forecast to follow in the afternoon

A snowstorm has hit parts of southern Ontario Tuesday morning, including the London area, with a messy forecast across the day.
A special weather statement issued by Environment Canada warned of a burst of up to 5 centimetres of local snowfall which began around 6 a.m. The weather service said it will likely be followed by rainfall amounts of 20 to 30 millimetres throughout the day before tapering off at night.
“Winter travel conditions are possible once the snow arrives,” said the statement. “At this point, it appears that the heaviest snow may impact the morning commute.”
On the social media platform X, Ontario Provincial Police posted a warning for drivers to plan ahead and drive according to conditions.
