Caitlyn Quinn ’26 was one of 48 players named to the 2025 U17 and U19 USA Lacrosse Youth National Teams. She earned her spot after a national combine in late July, competing two weekends in a row, first for the U19 USA Lacrosse in the Rivalry Challenge and then in the Brogden Cup. At the Rivalry Challenge, Team USA faced off against Lacrosse Canada, and at the Brogden Cup, Team USA competed against teams representing the Haudenosaunee Nationals and Team Ontario.
Caitlyn has been a standout student-athlete during her time at Kent Place. She’s a four-year varsity athlete and served as lacrosse captain for two seasons and soccer captain for one. We caught up with Caitlyn when she returned to campus about her experiences with USA Lacrosse.
What was it like to compete at the combine?
“It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. It’s one thing to play a sport you love; it’s another thing to have your country across your chest. Being surrounded by so many talented girls from all over the country, many of whom I might never have met outside of lacrosse, was both inspiring and motivating. The experience pushed me to compete at my highest level while also creating lasting friendships and memories I’ll carry with me forever.”
How has USA Lacrosse further developed your game?
“I’ve gained a deeper appreciation for every opportunity I get on the field. I’ve learned to make the most of every moment, because the game moves so fast and the quarters go by quickly. There’s no time to take a single play for granted. Competing at a high level has taught me to play with more intention so that when the game starts, I’m ready to make the most of every second and have no regrets.”
What will you take from your time with USA Lacrosse back to Kent Place?
“I’ve learned just how much teammates shape a team’s identity and experience. Playing for Team USA was especially meaningful because it was the last time I’d get to play alongside that incredible group of girls, many of whom I now consider some of my closest friends. That experience reminded me that lacrosse is so much more than just a sport; it’s about the relationships, trust, and shared moments that bring a group of people together. When I return to Kent Place, I want to bring that same energy and appreciation for my teammates. I’ve learned how important it is to celebrate the small moments, the assists, the hustle plays, the encouraging words, that make a team stronger. Those little things build chemistry and confidence, and they’re what turn a group of players into a family. I want to carry that sense of connection, gratitude, and celebration into every practice and game with my Kent Place team.”
What does being a Dragon mean to you?
“To me, being a Dragon and participating in Kent Place athletics means being part of a close community where everyone supports each other, whether you win or lose. It’s about pushing yourself to be your best, while also celebrating your teammates’ successes, no matter how small, and demonstrating integrity in everything you do. When I put on my Kent Place uniform, it reminds me of not only what I’m playing for now, but also all the people and players who came before me who were able to turn the program into what it is today.”
