Capital One has launched a standalone mobile app for Capital One Travel.

The app gives eligible cardholders a separate place to book flights, hotels, rental cars, vacation rentals, and activities, while also letting them redeem rewards during checkout.

Capital One Travel is now getting its own mobile channel instead of sitting only inside the company’s wider banking experience. The web version will still remain available, but the new app gives Capital One a more focused way to serve travelers before and during a trip.

The app is built to stay useful after booking

Capital One says the app is designed not only for making bookings, but also for managing trips in real time.

Once a trip starts, users can see flight alerts, gate changes, airport details, and other travel updates inside the app.

Lounge wait times add a practical airport feature

One of the most useful features is live information for Capital One lounges. Eligible travelers can check lounge capacity, see estimated wait times, and join a digital waitlist through the app.

Airport lounges have become a major part of the travel value proposition, especially for higher-end cards. By adding real-time lounge tools, Capital One is making that benefit more practical and easier to use while people are actually traveling.

Capital One is bringing more of its travel business in-house

Capital One Travel was originally built with Hopper Technology Solutions, and Capital One was both an early partner and investor in Hopper’s B2B business.

Now the company says it is bringing in-house the technology, talent, licenses, servicing contracts, and supplier relationships the two companies built together over the last four years.

The bigger goal goes beyond leisure bookings

Financial services companies are treating travel as a larger strategic business, not just a rewards feature. Travel helps card issuers keep customers engaged across booking, loyalty, payments, and servicing, which makes these platforms more valuable over time.

Capital One has also said before that it wants to connect Brex’s spend management capabilities with Capital One Travel to help grow business travel revenue. The new app looks like another step toward a broader travel platform that could eventually connect consumer rewards, corporate spending, and trip management more closely.
