The National Weather Service reports that a strong cold front will impact the mountains tonight with snow levels falling to the valley floors and strong winds.

The heaviest totals will be above 6,000 feet, where four to 10 inches are expected in the West Central Mountains and Boise Mountains. McCall and Cascade could see one to four inches, and the Owyhee Mountains could see similar amounts with gusts at 35 mph. There should be less than one inch of snow in other areas.

Travel may be difficult due to slick roadways and reduced visibility. Brief snow and gusts of 30-50 mph are possible along the front in the Magic Valley early Tuesday morning.

Winter weather advisories were issued for the mountain areas of Southwest/West-Central Idaho and Southern Malheur County, Oregon, starting this evening and continuing through tomorrow morning.
