When Bad Bunny was announced as the halftime show headliner for Super Bowl LX, it caused many country music fans to argue that the big game is far overdue for a headliner from their favorite genre.
In fact, a Change.Org petition was started that called for country music legend George Strait to replace Bad Bunny at the Super Bowl. That petition collected more than 130,000 signatures, but obviously it didn’t change the NFL’s mind on going with the megastar from Puerto Rico.
Country music fans might get their wish in 2027, though, if the betting odds hold up.
No, George Strait isn’t the favorite, but perhaps the hottest artist in country music — Morgan Wallen — is.
Fan Duel has released its official odds for the 2027 Super Bowl halftime show headliner and Wallen leads the way at +1120.
He has some interesting company.
Harry Styles is second at +1040 followed by Ariana Grande +920, Drake +880 and J. Cole +880, Justin Bieber +790, A$AP Rocky +610, Lil Wayne +520, Taylor Swift +490, Cardi B +550 and Miley Cyrus +310.
As Taste of Country noted, Wallen had 105 total chart entries on the Billboard Hot 100 through mid-2025. It is an incredible number that suggests folks would definitely tune in if he got the gig.
Shania Twain was the last solo country artist to headline the halftime show all the way back in 2003. The NFL did have a “Rockin’ Country Sunday” halftime show in 1994 that featured Clint Black, Tanya Tucker and Travis Tritt.
