D4vd Is Google’s Top Trending Musician in 2025 Amid Death Case
Data arrives several weeks after LAPD confirmed the case was an “investigation into murder”
Google has released its list of trending 2025 topics — including its roundup of musicians. At the front of the list was D4vd, the singer at the center of controversy after the body of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez was discovered inside his Tesla over the summer.
The revelation of search data comes several weeks after Los Angeles Police Det. Joshua Byers characterized the case as an “investigation into murder” as he requested a court order preventing the release of Rivas’ autopsy findings. Byers argued public release of details surrounding Rivas’ death could jeopardize the homicide investigation and had to be protected, the LA Times reported at the time.
A week prior, sources told NBC News and ABC7 that D4vd is considered a suspect in the death of Rivas. The singer was out of state on tour when his dented 2023 Tesla Model Y was towed from the Bird Streets neighborhood of the Hollywood Hills on Sept. 5. The tow yard called police, saying the impounded vehicle was “emanating a foul odor and attracting flies,” according to a search warrant affidavit obtained by Rolling Stone.
As for the Google Search data revealed Monday, the “trending” distinction means that searches for D4vd had a high spike in traffic over a sustained period in 2025, compared to 2024. D4vd was also among the top five trending people overall on Google all year.
On the list of musicians, after D4vd, girl group Katseye — which went viral for “Gnarly” and “Gabriela” this year — came in second place. Bad Bunny, Spotify’s most-streamed star of the year, came in third, followed by Sombr in fourth, Doechii in fifth, and Jonas Brothers in sixth place.
Google also revealed its ranking of top trending songs, which was dominated by Taylor Swift’s The Life of a Showgirl. Coming in at first was “Wood,” single “Fate of Ophelia” landed at Number Four, “Father Figure,” which sampled George Michael landed at fifth place, and “Oplaite” reached Number Eight. Bad Bunny’s “DtMF” landed at Number Two, and HUNTR/X’s “Golden” from Kpop Demon Hunters landed in third place.
