Dance takes fourth in team performance; makes hip hop finals

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The University of Pikeville Dance Team wrapped up day two of the 2025 NCA & NDA Collegiate Cheer and Dance Championship. The Bears competed in the hip hop prelims and team performance finals Friday.  

The Bears came in fourth in the team performance finals, one spot better than their placement in the prelims. UPIKE recorded a score of 64.06/80.00 and had a percent perfection score of 80.0750, 0.425 points better than their score in the prelims. UPIKE finished one spot ahead of Missouri Baptist, who finished two spots ahead of the Bears in the prelims. UPIKE was also awarded the “Go Be Great Award” for their community service efforts and flood relief cleanup. 

In the hip hop prelims, UPIKE came in second place out of nine with a score of 55.68/70.00 and had a percent perfection score of 79.5429. The Bears finished behind Roosevelt University (Ill.). Just like the team performance, the top five finishers advance to the finals. The other programs that qualified for the hip hop finals were No. 3 Central Methodist University (Mo.), No. 4 Oklahoma City University, and No. 5 Ottawa University – Arizona.  

Coach Hanna Case‘s squad will perform again Saturday morning in the hip hop finals.
