Davenport Police unveil new mobile speed camera cabinets across city

Davenport police say new mobile speed camera cabinets will replace vans, keeping the same locations while upgrading enforcement technology.

DAVENPORT, Iowa — The Davenport Police Department says drivers will soon notice a new look to the city’s mobile speed enforcement cameras, though officials say their locations will remain the same.

In a social media post, the department announced it is replacing the vans commonly seen around town with updated mobile speed camera cabinets as part of a technology upgrade. Police emphasized the change is limited to the equipment itself and not where the cameras are stationed.

“You may be used to seeing vans pop up around town, but now you’ll start to see these new mobile speed cabinets, too,” the department wrote. “The locations will stay the same. We’re just introducing some updated technology.”

Officials encouraged motorists to obey posted speed limits, writing, “Slow down and help us keep Davenport safe.”

The department did not specify when the new cabinets will be fully implemented.
