1) Quiet luxury is out, maximalism is in
Once donned by Sofia Richie and Hailey Bieber, the fashion gods have declared ‘quiet luxury’ is out. Instead, what we saw on the runway was a variation of kitsch maximalism. From wearable art to baroque extravagance to dramatic colour collisions, this autumn, it’s all about being a little bit extra. We think the best way to incorporate the look is to inject a bit of humour into your home. Go for unexpected colour combinations and graphic patterns to truly celebrate the return of maximalism.

2) Leopard print
For a while now, we’ve been seeing the resurgence of leopard print in our favourite high street stores. Fashion Month has officially confirmed it’s here to stay. From Saint Laurent’s glossy leopard print looks in Paris to Marc Jacobs’ wild cat coats in New York, animal prints have dominated the runway. To bring this look home, consider investing in a leopard print rug or bedding. If you’re worried about the look being a tad too much, why not try this Dunelm cushion with pretty frilled edges?

3) Fringe galore
In fashion, fringes are a fantastic way to add movement and life to a piece of clothing. At London Fashion Week, we saw Erdem and Simone Rocha embrace fringed skirts and dresses, whilst in Milan, Jil Sander presented a party-ready look (pictured above). This chair from Wayfair is a great gothic twist on the trend. A fringe tassel curtain is a similarly fun way to add some movement to your home.

4) Plaid perfection
From checkered coats to grungy flannels, plaid was a pattern we saw all over Fashion Month. Doechii attended Paris in a full plaid look this year and Burberry, Louis Vuitton and Isabel Marant all included the pattern in their shows. The wonderful thing about plaid is its versatility. Whether you’re going for 90s-inspired grunge or something a bit more traditional, there are so many ways to bring it into your home.

5) The ‘mob wife’ rules again
Some people dismissed the ‘mob wife’ aesthetic (think knee-high boots and very large fluffy coats) as nothing more than a micro-trend. But after the ‘mob husband’ took over Milan Men’s Fashion Week, everyone from Miu Miu in Paris to Fendi in Milan embraced the aesthetic at the women’s shows. To bring some of that energy into your home, embrace ruby reds, gilded ornaments and fluffy decor. The ‘mob wife’ aesthetic is a rich, indulgent look that’s all about the attitude.

6) Chartreuse
For autumn, we’re used to seeing warm browns, ochres and oranges dominate runways. A big surprise was the presence of chartreuse. In Milan, Prada embraced the colour in all its neon glory, and Aiste Hong showcased an elegant chartreuse dress in New York. We think the best way to use chartreuse in your home is as an unexpected pop of colour. An outdoor cushion or plug-in lamp is a great way to liven up your home.
