Vanderbilt volleyball opens the home portion of its 2025 schedule Friday with Match 1 presented by Vanderbilt Health vs. Belmont. First serve is set for 7 p.m. and is broadcast on SEC Network.

“We have 17 athletes who care deeply about this program, and we cannot wait to showcase our hard work in front of a hometown crowd that has already shown our program so much support,” head coach Anders Nelson said. “We are grateful to Vanderbilt Health for joining this community as our official healthcare provider and sponsor for Match 1 and season 1.”

THE LAST TIME OUT

  • Vanderbilt dropped a five-set match to 14th-ranked Kansas at the AVCA First Serve Showcase in Lincoln, Nebraska
  • The Commodores jumped out to an early lead, winning the first set, 25-19
  • It was Vandy’s first set win since 1980
  • Reese Animashaun posted a double-double in her collegiate debut, recording 18 kills and 11 digs
  • Jackie Moore registered a career-high 17 kills and hit .323
  • Hailee Mack led the Dores defensively, producing 28 of the team’s 59 digs

THE MATCHUP AHEAD

  • This is the first recorded meeting between Vanderbilt and Belmont
  • The Bruins finished 11-19 overall and 6-12 in Missouri Valley Conference play in 2024
  • Fritz Rosenberg, who was hired in January will make his head coaching debut against the Commodores Friday
  • Both Vanderbilt head coach Anders Nelson and Rosenberg served as associate head coaches at SEC programs before coming to Nashville
  • Rosenberg spent three seasons as the associate head coach at Mississippi State; Nelson was the associate head coach at Kentucky for seven seasons

MATCH 1 INFORMATION

  • Match 1 presented by Vanderbilt Health will take place outside on Wyatt Lawn
  • The event is not ticketed
  • Bleacher seating is limited but standing room is also available
  • Parking will be in Lots 77 and 81
  • A variety of food trucks will offer concessions
  • Following the match, country music artist and Vanderbilt alumna Julia Cole will perform a concert on the lawn
